Island Peak also known as Imja Tse is located in Himalayas in eastern Nepal.  Island Peak is 6189 meters i.e.  20,305 feet tall and is the easiest peak to climb and often recommended for beginners. Summitclimb offers three way to climb island peak. First is 22 days where you trek everest base camp and climb island peak. Second option in 17 day you just climb island peak. Third, adding 5 more days climb Island Peak as an “optional add-on” to another trek or climb, such as Ama Dablam, or  Lobuche Peak.

Best Season To Climb Island Peak: The Island Peak climb can be done at nearly any time of year, but we offer our organized trips to Island Peak three times a year: April, November, and January. April is a very nice time to climb as it is generally dry and sunny with a few occasional weather events, but nothing serious. November is superb, with sunny days and cool clear nights. January is amazing. No one is on the mountain in January and you will have the place to yourself. While April and November are similarly warm, January will be cooler so please dress appropriately for January.

Your Personal Trekking and Climbing Equipment: For Island Peak you need warm trekking clothing (trousers/shirts/underwear/socks), waterproof/windproof outer layers, a very warm thick down jacket with a hood, warm extra layers for your legs, thick warm mitts, medium weight gloves, warm hats and sun hats, headlamps with extra batteries, good sun glasses / goggles for snow, good mountaineering snow boots with crampons, good sturdy ankle high leather trekking shoes, an ice axe, helmet, harness, 2 locking carabiners, 4 standard carabiners, 4 slings, an ascender, and a figure 8 descender, a 50 litre rucksack, three one litre water bottles, a good sleeping bag and you will purchase your sleeping matts in Lukla.

All Group Equipment Is Provided By Us: tents, ropes, stoves, fuel, food (3 hot meals per day with lots of hot drinks). We do suggest you bring 1 kilo / 2 pounds of snacks like chocolate, chips, nuts, and you can easily and inexpensively buy these in Kathmandu.

We Will Check Your Personal Equipment in Kathmandu: If you brought everything you need from home, that is fine. However, you can rent everything you need in Kathmandu and many of our Island Peak members rent or buy their clothing, shoes, and equipment in the more than 100 Kathmandu mountaineering and trekking shops, where there is a massive selection of new and second hand items at good prices. Not only will our leaders and Sherpas personally check all of your equipment, they will also take you on a guided shopping trip to many shops where you can check prices, sizes, try on, compare models, colors, styles etcetetra. It is very fun and you will find an abundance of everything you need.

During your trek and climb we provide three meals and lots of hot drinks each day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

During the climb, you wont be carrying a heavy backpack. Our Sherpas will help to carry your weight.
