Installation of insulation in the atrium of the roof It is one of the ways to prevent heat from entering the house. A good home builder รับสร้างบ้านโคราช will install insulation for the houses they build. This will help prevent excessive heat from entering. The most popular insulators are sheet insulation. There are currently a wide variety to choose from. Therefore, we should consider the properties in various aspects, the ability to resist heat. including prices for decision making

Insulation is responsible for preventing heat from entering the house. It also helps reflect heat radiation away. Installing insulation in the atrium will reduce heat more than other areas of the house because more than 70% of the heat that enters the house comes from the roof itself. At present, there are quite a number of insulation options. But for homes, usually use sheet insulation. (Prefabricated insulation is in sheets or in rolls) because it can be easily dismantled and replaced. The work site is clean. In general, there are 4 types to choose from: aluminum foil Polyethylene foam, air bubble and fiber glass. The selection should consider the properties, heat resistance, installation characteristics. including various precautions to make a decision

    1. Aluminum Foil

Looks like a sheet of aluminum foil, 2 sides, thin, acts as a reflection of heat. It has an efficiency in reflecting heat radiation up to 97%. You can choose whether to install on the purlin or under the roof truss. which itself has almost no thermal resistance or R-value (R-value approximately 0.000001 m2.K/W or 0.0000057 hr.ft2.F/Btu), due to its lack of thickness it reflects heat. alone But in the installation must leave an air gap, which is considered a thermal insulation value that can be calculated. The more air gap between the heat reflector and the roofing material, the higher the R-value. The advantages are that it is easy to buy, tensile strength, not easy to tear. But it should be borne in mind that other types of insulation should be used as well. The aluminum foil itself reflects heat but does not prevent heat from entering the house.

    2. Polyethylene foam (Polyethylene Foam-PE)

Abbreviated as PE foam insulation, it is a foam sheet with aluminum foil on 1 or 2 sides, each layer is glued together with glue. PE foam acts as a heat insulator. While aluminum foil reflects heat, PE foam insulation can insulate heat while helping to reflect heat. In the market there are thicknesses such as 3, 4, 5 and 10 mm that are commonly used as insulation. is a thickness of 5 mm. This 5 mm thickness itself has the ability to resist heat or an R-value of approximately 0.208 m2.K/W (1.181 hr.ft2.F/Btu). The set can be installed on the purlin, under the batten, under the rafters (wire/wire grid) or can be laid on the ceiling. There are considerations: The foil body covers the skin. When torn until you see the PE inside, if a spark hits it, it can cause a flame to spread. Because PE insulation is made of polyethylene foam.

    3. Air Bubble (Air Bubble is also called Bubble Foil)

It is an insulator that looks like a shockproof plastic sheet with air mass in the middle. But there is an aluminum foil on both sides. Air mass will act to prevent heat. The aluminum foil reflects heat. with a thickness of about 4-4.5 mm. The foil body covers the skin. When you tear it apart, you can see the flesh inside If a spark hits the insulation inside, it can cause a fire spread. Because Bubble Foil insulation is made from a type of plastic. (recommended to consult each manufacturer for more information) Can be installed in multiple locations Whether it is installed around the roof structure placed on the purlin, under the batten, under the rafters (wire/wire grid) or laying on the ceiling. It itself has a thermal resistance or R (Resistivity) of about 0.101 m2.K/W (0.573 hr.ft2.F/Btu).

    4. Fiberglass

Fiberglass insulation is wrapped in aluminum foil. Glass fiber acts as a heat insulator and aluminum foil reflects heat. Fiberglass insulators come in many forms. For residential houses, there are both types that are suitable for installing on the batten around the roof frame. and a type of covering on the ceiling that can be installed easily, does not spread fire, there are considerations Must prepare enough space for storage. (It’s a thicker roll than other types of sheet insulation) and costs more than the first 3 types.

After knowing each type of sheet insulation It can be seen that each type of insulator has different properties and prices. However, the service life of each type of insulator may not differ much. The decision to use may be based on cost-effectiveness. And don’t forget it’s important to have good ventilation in your home.
