Hormonal imbalance can cause depression or anxiety because it leads to the release of cortisol, a stress hormone that makes us feel anxious when we don’t need to! Cortisol also causes our bodies to go into “fight-or-flight” mode, where we become hypervigilant about protecting ourselves from threats (even if they are not real). This constant vigilance raises blood pressure over time, leading to other health problems like heart attacks and strokes. To counteract this, try eating an anti-inflammatory diet with lots of fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants and foods containing omega-three fatty acids such as salmon, walnuts, and flax seeds.
Fatigue & Sleepiness
